In this project we used our favorite custom tile base drain: the Schluter^®-KERDI-DRAIN as well as the tried and true Shcluter kerdi membrane. It is crucial to waterproof the walls in addition to the base. This keeps moisture from penetrating the substrate under the tile, and thus prevents mold growth behind the tile.
